Executing Writ of Possession

My property is in Dekalb County, Ga. My tenant was served a dispossessory warrant by tack and mail, failed to show for court, and as such I was awarded a default judgement to regain possession of the property and also a money judgement. I filed for writ of possession that same day, and it was served to the property with the tenant present that same day as well. How long does the tenant have to move? 24hr/48hrs/7 days? Thanks

Who served the writ on the tenant? Usually it is posted by the Marshall/Sheriff and they follow up with you 48 hours later to make an appointment for set out.

Now that you have the writ all you have to do is schedule with the Marshall for the put out date. They need to be there and you will need to move all their junk out to the curb. The Marshall will not help with this - just watch and remove people from the house as needed while you change the locks and empty the house.
