No where near Chicago, but just a glut on the market. Many homes were bought cheap for rentals or people are having to turn them into rentals if unable to sell.

I tried the "open house" deal many years ago for another rental, and got a good renter and didn't really screen.

I think my top candidate was scared off when I asked the fiance to fill out the app. I think I should have closed the deal right after the app from her as they were really interested. What a difference a day makes.

I may go back to a "rental open house" idea if nothing happens in the next week. I asked the rental to be listed for new hires in the hr dept and have one person looking at the house later this week.
