LPA rental application and credit report.
Check income (pay stubs, bank statements or tax return), verify employer, etc.

The credit report will help you get an idea of the monthy debt, and you can do the math with the rent and cost of living in relation to the income.

Thank you for your response. Before I posted my original quesiton, it seemed like the majority of people required income of 3x the rent, which is a rent to income ratio. Do you look at debt to income also? I assume that whatever ratio you are looking at, do you vary it depending on wheather utilities are included or not?
