"What is a monthly pet fee."
It is just another way for a landlord to pick a tenant's pocket.

It's not picking anyone's pockets. Prospective tenants have every right to choose not to sign a lease where a pet fee is a provision. This is truly a free country in that regard. No one is put if a gun to anyone's head and forcing a prospective tenant to accept a pet fee. Thy can take it or leave it. No one also has to have a pet to live.

By your logic, any fee that a landlord chooses to include in their lease is pickpocketing. It would be one thing if it was a mandated fee by the government, but it is not. It is fully within the ability of a tenant to either accept said terms with a pet fee or go sign a lease somewhere with a pet fee.
A pickpocket is a thief. Thieves take things without asking. Lease terms are agreed upon.

After spending a few hundred to rip out carpets, have an empty unit, evict and de-flea a unit from someone who had cats here only a month, it is stunningly apparent Jake has no clue...

Jakey, you are picking the pockets of your tenants by overcharging them for rent. You are a purse snatcher.
