How to handle calls about Section 8 by Jannie (IL) on July 7, 2012 @18:45

I received a call about my SFH after giving my info about the house and rent the person asked did I take Section 8, I stated didn't know. Didn't know much about it, etc. Which was probably good because I just read somewhere, where you can't say you don't take Section 8. I don't want to, and don't want to mess with it. The woman hung up and said something about calling back later. I didn't get into the prescreening questions as she hit me with that. How do I deal with calls like that?

Simply say you are not approved for S8. If pressed, say you have never applied through their contract.

There is no requirement for you to accept any gov't subsides. You can say anything that you want.

When we've had this discussion before about state's where source of income cannot be considered, when the code was actually read; section did not count. It is not a source of income for the T, but is paid directly to the LL.

Just state that "You do not participate in the Program" thank you for calling.

When asked, I tell prospects that my property hasn't been qualified for the section 8 program. Sometimes they press and ask why or begin to tell me how to go about accepting it. I've even had several folks act a bit insolent about it.

I usually counter by telling them that it's a private business matter and refuse to discuss further.
