Unfortunately, I allowed a family member to move in during their time of need. 2 years later, it's time for them to go. Never intended to be a landlord. Just a helping hand. However at this point I want to cover my a** so this can not happen again.

Question... In these two years, did you educate yourself on your state landlord tenant laws? Have you taken any classes on being a landlord? Have you joined any landlord association to increase your knowledge of being a landlord?

Just trying to understand why no one prepares themselves to be landlords and why that leads to bad problems with tenants. It would be correct to learn the job requirements before you applied for the job. The lack of learning and education seems to result in bad tenants and landlords loosing money and damages to property. Just asking to learn also... Why do you get offened because one ask some basic questions? Is it because you have first hand experiance due to not knowing what to do?
