Septic Tank Issues

Tenants has lived in the resident over 4 years house is under 1000 sq ft w/ bath room 4 members in the family. later there were 2 additional unauthorized people residing at the house. My lease holds tenant resposible septic tank pumpout. Please advise who's pays the cost?

you do...2 extra people isnt out of the norm for a septic tank. id never charge my tenants for what im sure a judge would consider normal wear and tear. you may want to rethink that lease...

If your lease holds the tenant responsible for the pump out then the tenant pays. Whatever size tank you have, I can tell you it is not sized for 6 people. As a result you will have sewer leaking from the tank and surfacing in the yard no matter how well it is pumped out. You have a larger problem than who pays for the pump out. You have two squatters who need to go right now. Possibly the whole bunch needs to go now. Are they month to month?

Septic systems are designed for a certain # of bedrooms. I would never rely on the tenant to be responcible for the pump out!
