yeah, the problem with the kick-ins is the thin wood frame, not the quality or strength of the locks.
steel door & frame and multi-point locks are a potential defense to this - but we're getting of track here - the orig poster is up in arms ready to swap out all locks because someone told him the that kwikset is too easily picked.
i say enjoy the smartkeys - it's really the best rated/featured security bang for the buck.
there will always be someone who likes something better than what you have. i don't use them on my own door because i'm a security nut but for my tenants they take the kwikset and like it - and so do i. i do not discuss the locks with tenants other than to include an entry in my lease forbidding them from changing locks without my permission. if they were to ask and pay for the change i would allow it as long as i have a copy of the key for maintenance and emergencies.
The security screen doors or the iron entry doors are the best line of defense. However, once all the doors are secured then the multiple window accesses are at issue. Where there is a will, there is a way.
