Good try. by OK-LL on July 23, 2012 @00:27

Had an applicant today eager to rent my condo, completed the application right there and handed it to me. I explained I do civil & criminal background checks, particularly looking for anything dealing with alcohol, sex, drugs, theft or violence; he admitted to a 4-year old felony charge of unauthorized use of a credit card, but that's all. Just a few problems like anyone else, "kid stuff" otherwise. And BTW, he's been living in Mexico with his family for the past 2 years, so no recent rental reference. So I run the background through my state court system and discover he's had a drug charge, 2 A&B's, etc. Then I check with the dept of corrections and discover "Mexico" is only as far as the local penitentiary! Was doing time for the previous charges! Why do people pay me $20 to discover they are liars?

Awwww, he thought he'd get by on his charm and good looks!

What an idjit!

BTW, what company did you use for the $20 background check, and do ALL the states have this? Or is this the cost for a background check through your court system in OK only?

I used the Quick Check site attached to this site to do all my checks- credit, eviction, and criminal. The prices are lower for LPA members. Are these reports good enough or should I be double checking somewhere else?

Im impressed by the report you received. Twenty bucks, what a great deal. Dont know why you would want to spend any more money and check further. That would be all the info I would need to decline.

Isn't that amazing how many people stand there and lie to our faces. It just amazes me, I had 3 this week. I always ask if you have ever had an eviction and if you have had any trouble with the law. Then I do some free searches we have access to in Florida and it is amazing that everything they said is a lie. I called them back told them that I couldn't rent to them and by the way they really shouldn't lie since it is all public record and someone may have given them a break if they had just told the truth but liars i never rent to them.
