True story. I live a block away from the apartment the psycho in Colorado lived in. Because of this, police and FBI are ALWAYS around. I can't smoke weed, I can't have a party, I can't get my car out of the garage because my tags are expired and I'm afraid the cops will give me a ticket, I can't do ANYTHING because of all the law enforcement presence in my area. I asked my landlord to release me from my lease and he refused! He just said it's not his problem and a lease is a lease. I'd be free to pay him 2 months penalty and be out though!

Why are all landlord so greedy? This is a national tragedy and I just want to move away to a quieter area. Is this too much to ask?

You want to move to a quieter area where you can break the law at will (smoking weed), have parties that will spill outside your house and draw the neighbors' attention (otherwise why do you care about police presence) and drive your car on the streets I pay for -- and you want to screw the LL out of the benefits of the lease to do it! Why are tenants so self-centered and thoughtless, not to mention greedy?

this post is not real - a person who lives this way (and I know there are plenty) could care less about breaking a lease. school starts soon - perhaps this 8th grader will find something to do before then.

I forgot to mention. I was kicked out of my HOME for 2 days due to this as well and had to "live" in a school. Was there any offer of compensation by anyone? Nope! I paid for the full month, but was inconvenienced and kicked out for 48 hours.

Grow up! you sign a lease you are responsable for that,is not landlord fault about the crazy guy shooting, nor is your fault but learn to deal with it, this is part of life, ther are plenty people dealing with the lost of their families and friends , young people even a 6 year old girl, so that you can not smoke or party or park far from the place it is not big deal compare with what this people are going trhought and they have to endure, you might be a spoil bratt that always get away with what you want,, if in placeofrent that was your house you had to live there with all that problems and you couldn't move unless you could sell the house very fast! grow up kido!

Move to Wyoming. Much more open space to do your illegal stuff. Just be sure you get waaaaay out away from the man.
