You want to move to a quieter area where you can break the law at will (smoking weed), have parties that will spill outside your house and draw the neighbors' attention (otherwise why do you care about police presence) and drive your car on the streets I pay for -- and you want to screw the LL out of the benefits of the lease to do it! Why are tenants so self-centered and thoughtless, not to mention greedy?

car = expired tag means you aren't paying for the road maintenance, why should you be allowed to use it?

Weed is legal in Colorado, but the cops still give you a hard time and harass you for using it. Get a clue. I pay taxes every paycheck. I can't afford to buy new tabs right now. So sue me.

Your landlord will definitely sue you for breaking the lease without legal cause and garnish that paycheck you get in order to collect.

Marijuana is legal in Colorado for medical use (as it is in 15 states and the District of Columbia), but remains illegal on a Federal level, which means law enforcement can prosecute in Federal court if they so desire.

Not being able to have a party or smoke weed outside or drive your car with expired tags without worry is not a legal or valid reason for a LL to just let you out of a lease without some penalty.

If you want to move, pay the penalty and move to a deliquent friendly apartment. Otherwise, stop your moaning and groaning over selfish reasons when a horrible and tragic event occurred near your home. Having a party and smoking weed does not supersede having respect and common decency. Grow up and accept some responsibility and maybe think beyond your own narcissistic wants for once.

REALLY? How about the NEED of a parking spot for my roommate? There are so many gawkers around here we can't park anywhere but blocks away. How about being able to leave my place? Police cars, news trucks, and other vehicles block exits on multiple occassions. There is so much noise and commotion you can't sleep the last few days. You can't peacefully enjoy this place anymore. Last I checked, the tenant had a right to peaceful enjoyment of her residence, jackass.
