Really? You really want to punish a tenant for not locking their door? How do you know they routinely leave it unlocked? Do you check every time they leave? Are you that paranoid? This is the very definition of making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Tenants have another site that you may want to visit. This one is for landlords.

Wow Robert, the guy just went thru a Breach of Lease hearing, she left a bunch of doodie in his property, and you're saying he's being paranoid and making a mountain out of a molehill? Do you leave your front door unlocked all the time?

This guy looks like one of the tenants who post here. I do not think he owns a door, a pot or a window.

Bill, what part makes you suspicious that this is even a fake posting. what part of the post makes it look dubious? Thought this forum was for question/answer/advice etc for landlord issues problems.

Answer the question. How does this landlord know a tenant's front door is unlocked all the time without checking it? Instead of attacking my obvious question, how about you answer it?

Learned a few things past couple of days from neighbors:

1) Tenant always leaves door unlocked 24/7
2) Has left her 5+ cats in the house with door unlocked when she and her daughters were gone for days at a time (2+ days). Neighbors were concerned due to the summer heat and entered to check on cats. Cats had no food and water.
3) Neighbors on occasion had helped with buying groceries because daughters weren't eating.
4) Neighbors say she is Looney, but are concerned about cats and daughters.

I asked the tenant why she leaves the door unlocked and she said 'so that the daughters are not locked out'. No mention of leaving the keys in a conspicuous place or making extra keys. Just a 'I don't give a doodie attitude'.

If I do lock the door, she has the keys to get in. Its not like I've locked her out. I've just secured the premises. If the place is vandalized or burglarized during the next few days either by her or by someone, she won't care and only blame someone else.

I asked her when she'll be out, and she said she doesn't know. It would take her maybe 3 to 4 hrs to get the rest of her stuff out, but shes going to make things difficult.
