Does Anyone Else Hate Angie's List? - Landlord Forum thread 317808

Does Anyone Else Hate Angie's List? by Dan (CO) on April 22, 2014 @14:27

I used them to find a heating contractor. When my membership expired I decided not to renew it.

The review process is a mess when reporting that a service provider didn't bother to respond, which happens a lot. You still have to include almost as much information as when they actually did the work.

I have reviews sitting in a hold queue for weeks. They still haven't been published online.

I will not pay this service for a referral. There are better ways to find a service provider. I can live without this pay-for list.

I have been a member of Angies for more than 10 years.

I have never had a review they failed to publish right away. I have never had them fail to contact me when I had an issue with the website. If I need a new contractor, I ask all my friends first, then other landlords I trust, then I go to angies. It has been a solid asset for me.

It did take them a long time to decide to let me access information from multiple states. They are not used to the idea of someone using contractors outside of a narrow geographical area.

My insurance company has a free service for it's members that refers you to a contractor. All the contractors that are members must offer a two year warranty on their work. Free.

I agree with you totally. I like Yelp.
