MY FIANCE AND I LIVE IN A BASEMENT APT SINCE 11/13, WHICH WE ARE PRETTY SURE IS ILLGAL BUT WE HAVE A LEASE. IN OUR LEASE ELECTRICITY IS INC. IN MAY 2014, CON ED CUT OUR SERVICE DUE TO NON PAYMENT FOR MANY MANY MONTHS OF NON PAYMENT THANKS TO MY GREAT LANDLORD .WE CALLED LANDLORD. WAS PUT BACK ON AFTER I HAD TO LEAVE WORK EARLY AND LOST OUR REFRIGERATED FOODS. WE PAY OUR RENT ON TIME EVERY MONTH.
MY NEIGHBOR CAME TO ME WITH A NOTICE FROM CON ED YET AGAIN LAST TUESDAY. WE CALLED THE LANDLORD TO NOTIFY HER WE RECIEVED A UTILITY SHUT OFF AGAIN. WE PAID OUR RENT ON WEDNESDAY AND I PAID IT NEXT DAY BANK ACCT TO BANK ACCT WITH PROMISES FROM THE LANDLORD THAT SHE WOULD PAY AS SOON AS SHE GOT IT ON HER END. SHE GOT IT LAST THURSDAY. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO REACH HER BUT SHE IS NOT RESPINDING TO VM OR TEXTS, NEVER ANSWERS HER PHONE. THE NOTICE GIVES US THE 20TH AS THE DAY FOR SHUT OFF, TODAY IS THE 22ND, IT IS STILL UNPAID. I HAVE CALLED CON ED WHO CAN ONLY GIVE ME MINIMAL INFO CAUSE I DO NOT HAVE AN ACCT NUMBER, OR A SS AND ALSO FOUND OUT WE ARE ON A POP METER. THEY SAID AS THE TENANTS WE CANT DO ANTHING BECAUSE OF THESE REASONS. I CALLED 311 TOO NO HELP FROM THEM EITHER. WHAT CAN WE DO NOW? WE CAN NOR BE WITHOUT ELECTRIC! THE CURRENT BILL TO MAINTAIN SVCE IS NOTED AS $929.09 ON NOTICE BUT ARREARS AMOUNT IS OVER $1,000. WE EVEN SAID WE WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY AMOUNT TO KEEP IT ON, THEN JUST DEDUCT FROM FUTURE RENT PAYMENTS, WE E ACCT NEED THE ACCT NUMBER TO DO SO, BUT NO REPLY FROM HER. CAN ANYBODY HELP WITH SOME ADVICE? MY HANDS ARE TIED BEHIND MY BACK NOW DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO! PS.. SHE DOES NOT LIVE HERE WE HAVE NOT SEEN HER SINCE NOV. WE DONT HAVE AMY ADDRESS FOR HER ONLY A CELL NUMBER!

I don't know about NY but in Pennsylvania, they post a notice on the door several days prior to shut off. That gives you the info you need to stop the termination.

why don't you just move? No utilities, a lease without proper contact info for the landlord and an illegal apartment ... something is in it for you or you wouldn't be staying. Just curious what that reason is.

also, in your first shut off, you did not lose refrigerated foods with the power being off one day unless your refrigerator leaks air like a sieve

Stop YELLING

Typing in all caps is YELLING, and it is extremely hard to read

Also..the sold block of text is very hard to read.

Is your rent due on the 1st or the 15th? If your rent is actually due on the 1st and you paid two weeks late, and you have done this before, it's possible that the landlord isn't taking your calls because she is tired of late payments and wants tou to move.

You need to move to a legal aparment.
