I usually put up vinyl blinds for less than $5 from Home Depot or Lowes. In apts complexes it improves the looks from the outside-at least better than tacked up sheets, beach towels, flags, posters and tacky aluminum foil. If you don't provide window coverings I would at least specify in the lease that they put up blinds or curtains or nothing instead of the items mentioned above.

The time alone is more than $5. Add in an hour of time and then gas...plus the cost of the blinds ...can't be done for $5

Why does everyone always assume their time is so valuable in dollars and cents when it is really not.

I mak$85/hour. If I have to spend time to purchase, replace, mend outside of normal wear and tear, then darling, my time is money, just as much as if I were to pay someone else.37t

I wholeheartedly agree with the posters above. I make in the same range as the first poster, and I'm very busy, so spending time fixing something like blinds can quickly get expensive in terms of lost revenue. Also, as KatieKate said above, she pays a handyman to take care of these types of repairs. So, she definitely needs to include the cost of his time as part of the charge to the tenant.

I PAY a handyman. His time is billed to me. Home Depot can take an hour easy...between the drive and waiting for someone to cut the blinds. Like I said...$25 is the actual cost to me for blinds.
