Do you really make $85 per hour hanging blinds? You have not figured out how to do it cheaper. You take time from an $85 per hour job to hand blinds?

Of course not. That is not what the poster said. He/she was simply saying that time is money, and if they have to take time off work where they DO make $85/hour, then hanging blinds is more expensive than the $5.00 that bayoupots was talking about.

"if they have to take time off work where they DO make $85/hour"

What the landlord makes at another job is irrelevant, what one is paid at one job does not transfer to the other. If you have to repair tenant damage, then yes, charge them. But you can't charge what you would be making at your other job. That's not the tenant's business nor the tenant's problem.

If you're in a state where you are allowed to charge for your own labor, then charge an appopriate rate for the job being done. Very little skill is required (certainly not to the tune of $85/hr) to operate the tools necessary to hang miniblinds.

No one here has said that they would charge at the rate of their other job. They only said it costs more than the $5.00 that bayoupots quoted. We also objected to the Anonymous post about our time not being with what we think it is.

KatieKate said it costs her $25 per blind, because she pays a handyman to do it. I believe that's what it costs her.
