As to the lease. If you belong to a Landlord Association, you can get your lease translated into different languages. Another source is if you have a nearby colledge. A language Teacher could do it for a fee, as so could an attorney.

A friend or even a church could provide sources for communication with applicants. The local churchs in your area may be more than willing to help.

I have not tried this, but one landlord I know has used the website www.babylon.com to translate are her notices into Spainish and Korean.

    I should have said as a last resort, but then Bill, like you, I would have found a reason to reject the applicant before then!

I would NEVER have legal documents translated.

I am on my high horse here ... I am in America and we conduct business in English. If someone is transacting business in America (not talking about CA but the rest of the country) it gets done in the English language.

That said,I am from an immigrant family and we take care of our own. Just helped a family member last month with getting a lease at a complex and we would have NEVER considered asking the complex for a translation ... that was why I was helping.
