If you have all the information on the location, bank accounts, employers, etc..then maybe you can find a collection agency that might take it for pennies on the dollar......but even then..not too likely

The thing is...deadbeats are very hard to find and collect against. Collection agencies (and law firms now too) know that it will probably costs them more to chase deadbeats then they will ever collect. AND, once they have found them...all that happens is they quit their jobs and now the skip-tracers have to start all over...which costs more money again.

Sadly...you will probably not be able to collect anything.

The only way to protect yourself against this kind of thing is to be very, very careful who you rent to. Never accept anyone who is substandard ...no matter what the sob story is.

Indeed, I do NOT have any information on that crook. All I have is the SS#, but no current address, no employer, no bank account - nothing. He has managed to erase himself like he never existed. I would agree on pennies on the dollar - hell, I'd agree to GIVE someone that judgment to collect, with only one condition: I want to know that they made his life miserable.

And of course, I do tenant screening to the extreme now. I verify everything, even the small things. I visit the applicants' home to see how they really live. Now we have very good tenants. Pity that I was a softie goodie two shoes before. It cost me.

Let me repeat what I said. No one is going to take your collection and pay their own money to try to chase a deadbeat. Everyone knows the odds of spending a lot of money and never getting any payment are quite high.

So...hire skip-tracers yourself. Hire a private eye to chase them. What will happen is you will learn the lesson collection agencies already know. You will just flush money down the toilet. But..if it gives you satisfaction to do that...go ahead. But do not expect anyone else ever will
