Is it a term lease? If so, they already know when the lease ends and a notice is not required. Of course I would give written notice anyway. If the lease continues after the termination date by the landlord accepting rent payments or converts into a month to month, wait until the state law says to give the notice that you will not be renewing. Advising tenants early that you will not renew will stir up trouble.
