A doodiezu shouldn't increase his insurance. Saying that I don't know what his insurance company says about dogs. They may charge extra in case your doodiezu goes crazy and bites the entire neighborhood.

Some areas allow the victim (if this were to happen) to not only sue the owner of the pet but the LL that allowed the renter to have the pet. In my experience this is only applicable when someone has a breed that is labeled as aggressive (pit bulls etc.). A doodiezu shouldn't fall under these categories.

When you offered to pay the difference what was your LL's response? Seems reasonable to me. Or he may be trying to brush it off because he does not want to be controversial with you since you have a good relationship.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your advice.
I asked the LL what the increase would be and offered to pay. they just responded that it would be a lot and they didn't want to change the coverage. That is fair enough, but I want to find out if the LL actually looked into it or is maybe misinformed.

Sounds to me he does not want you to have the pet and he is using this to drop the issue. Since you have a good relationship it may be difficult for him to just say no so he is taking the wrong path and using an excuse to prevent the pet from being put into the house.

You're better off waiting to get the dog when you can find a new place.
