Re: Maintenance on Mobile Homes - Landlord Forum thread 326073

Re: Maintenance on Mobile Homes by John Farmer (Florida) on October 21, 2014 @12:44

When the issue arises, I will inform myself about the subject.

A way to do this without having to pay for an attorney is to join legal forums, and if that fails, call your local congressman and someone from his/her office will tell you what you need to know or where to find it.

"When the issue arises, I will inform myself about the subject."

It's too late to learn after the fact.

True. But why would I discriminate against someone in the first place? I would never say "you can't stay here because you are....."

If I say "no pets" and they have a seeing-eye dog, I would be able to tell that is a different circumstance.

What body of law are the discrimination laws written in? Is it the U.S. Code?

Is there anything else I need to know about other than discrimination law? Anything that "Landlord and Tenant" of the Florida Statutes doesn't cover?

There is state and federal law on discrimination which you should research and read. Also, look into the area of collateral discrimination to discover what actions you take, while themselves not discriminatory, may fall under the statutes because the result is discriminatory.
