Based on that alone, I think you are fine. But you should hire a lawyer anyway, I think.

Doubt it.

The statement that was made was:
"Maybe the house is too small for a family of 6."

The statement was not backed up with any occupancy regulations as put forth by the OP's local housing authority. A discriminatory statement was made.

Its not about the size of nor the number of bedrooms.

It is against the law to discourage any person from viewing and/or renting a unit because that person belongs to a protected class (Familiar Status).

Familiar status means married, unmarried, divorced, widowed, etc. As far as I know, it doesn't apply to size of family, but I am willing to be educated on that if I am wrong.

You can not fashion your occupancy limited to avoid children. But you do have the right to limit your occupancy based on reasonable standards. (Number of bedrooms, size of the house/rooms, plumbing, that sort of thing.)

'Familiar status means married, unmarried, divorced, widowed, etc'

Familial status is defined as having one or more individuals under 18 years of age who reside with a parent or with another person with care and legal custody of that individual (including foster parents) or with a designee of that parent or other person with legal custody. Familial status also includes a pregnant woman or a person who is in the process of adopting or otherwise securing legal custody of any individual under 18 years of age.
