No, I don't believe you have additional responsibilities. Had a washer break once because tenant overloaded it. I happened to have an extra washer (had just bought a house that came with a washer and dryer). The extra washer was working, but cosmetically ugly. I took out the broken washer and gave her the ugly (but working) one to use until we got the good washer fixed.
Ended up having to replace the motor and transmission from her overloading the washer--and it was a heavy duty rated washer!
