There was no talk about the tenant living in a multi-unit property where the owner was living in the same building.

While different areas have different guidelines pertaining to visitors, my comment about the 14-day time frame is what is used in most areas from what I have experienced.

You are correct that there are exceptions when it comes to landlords that live int he same building as the tenant, but the landlord still cannot just make up an arbitrary amount of time that a visitor can 'visit'. He should refer to the guidelines for his area and situation and base his course of action upon that.

If the renter does not like the landlords rules and lease agreements she can always leave before the both of them are evicted. The landlord does not need to ask around for permission on how to manage his own property.
