Actually scanning or storing the copy would subject you to a greater violation and forfeiture of your possessions and a larger fine and imprisonment. There are no loop holes when dealing with Uncle Sam.

I should have known. Actually Elizabeth from Kansas, the last poster here tonight, also says to get a copy of his ID, both front and back and note the end date. Apparently few of the active duty military are aware of this rule. This has been going on for years. Maybe the military Thought Police will be dispatched to round up all the guilty parties!
