Re: Service Call Charge - Landlord Forum thread 331717

Re: Service Call Charge by jannie (IL) on March 3, 2015 @17:34

The tenant admits that she knocked the plug out when she was unpacking. And, she was asked by the landlord whether it was plugged in and she indicated it was. The faucet is a problem. If it were me I would send a bill for (with a copy of the total bill) for 1/2 the charges. Also, I would explain again the repair procedures. Put things in writing.
Good luck

So what that the tenant admits it, it was an accident.(why is the plug so easily dislodge?) Like MrDan said, is it worth having a bad tenant relationship over this.
Why would the landlord hire a plumber to fix an electrical plug to start with, especially without checking it out first. The landlord just over reacted on this one resulting in unnecessary cost! Besides the landlord knew there was a problem with the bath faucet and did not fix it (claims three plumbers looked at it) I find that odd a plumber can not fix a flow problem on one bath faucet while the rest of the house remains unaffected? This landlord seems to blame everyone else but herself and husband.

I think they already have problems with the tenant. The tenant is getting people (her father) to repair things without approval. I have had things unfortunately come up early in the renting, but usually you're still in the "honeymoon" phase. It's too bad that Landlord didn't go over right away and check on things. I didn't understand original poster to say that the faucet leaked before the father "fixed" it only that there was low water pressure. If there is a "quirk" like that low water pressure -- it's always better to let the tenant know that it will run a little slow.
