Yeah, there's more to screening than what's on paper for sure. Sorry you'll have to keep looking, but I think it's best.

I think you need to consider that fact that she is a young lady, and as such her brother brought her because she is a young lady meeting an unknown man.

Heard about Craigslist much? It happens! She is being wise and protecting herself.

As for the fact that she didn't want to provide a SS#, the horrible fact is that many have been victims of Identity Theft, and yes, it has happened via rental applications, as well as employee applications. All it takes is one person to not be extremely careful with that persons' information and can end up causing them many months, if not years, of headaches. So, she may have been worried about giving that information out.

Third, it may be just as simple as forgetting she had lived at that address. How many places have you lived? Have you ever forgotten the address of one of them or forgotten you had even lived there? I have. But then again, I juggle multiple things everyday, so I forget things here and there.
It happens.

Yes, all of this is conceivable. But as John Brayton noted below, these are all small red flags and when they occur all together they become a greater concern.

She isn't a young lady--this woman is in her 40s.

Okay, so no woman in her 40s has ever been the victim of an assault by unknown men?

I have to be honest, but just from reading a few of these posts, it seems to many people became LL's and all common sense or reality of the world we live ran right out the window.

I do not want to imply it's because you no longer "work" for a living, because I am sure many of you still do. However, I think it may be a good idea to reconsider some of your statements and positions, because it really does read like you are from another planet.

Which is very sad and unfortunate.
