Your best bet is to formalize your separate maintenance agreement now, preliminary to the divorce proceedings. That would increase your income for a prospective landlord to consider. But your husband's pinky-swear that he will provide support won't get it.

Thank you (and to everyone who has given advice). You are right. A non-filed, non-official document is no better than a "pinky-swear" (love that term BTW). And I'm going to have to file proper documents with the court before I can rent a place. Maybe this "agreement" he typed up (without input from me) was just another control tactic to get me to hang around longer. He's not the one who wants a divorce.
