Pest Control - Landlord Forum thread 356393

Pest Control by Bill (IL) on March 8, 2018 @14:56

Moving into a rental home with unfinished basement the week of 25 March. Signed up for Orkin for services. They wanted me to do tomorrow and recommended it now before I move in but since I am not moving in to the vacant home for a bit, decided on next Friday. Would tomorrow be to soon to spray or is next week about right?? Thanks!

If you are the tenant, why are you doing the spraying, and not the LL ? If there are pests there while the place is vacant, that is the LLs responsibility to pay to spray before the T moves in. But regardless of who pays for it, the sooner, the better, to have it sprayed. It give the spray that much more time to kill those pests. And you may even want Orkin to come and spray the day before you move in---to kill any remaining pests the first spraying didn't get. Spray poisons take time to kill. That's why they try to sell you a years worth of monthly sprayings-----not only to make money, but they already know you can't kill every pest on just the one spraying.

I am certainly agree with Garry, if you are a tenant then why are you taking the effort in calling a pest control company? Let this work be carried out by house owner only. I remember, Last year my neighbor had encountered a similar problem to his landlord and so the renter decided to contact the pest control NYC for exterminating the pests permanently. Till today they didn't face any pest problem and are very much satisfied with the pest control NYC services. Likewise, you should also talk with your landlord for leading the step ahead.
