Allowing Pets-Yes or No???? (Score: 1) by pat smith on Saturday, October 19, 2002 @11:37
Wanted to see some opinions on this subject. Since, I believe that it is harder to rent at this time (Oct. '02)due to the extremely low mortgages rates so many more people are buying vs renting. And, this time of year is harder to find renters in Michigan. I was thinking of allowing pets. I would want to use a good, solid pet agreement/rider w/ pet deposit, add'l mthly pet fee and clear conditions/rules. Also, if I allow pets now, do I have to forever? Pros: Likely to be long-term renters since harder to find rentals allowing pets, might motivate them to abide by lease and be more agreeable?, kinder people? Cons: Increase damage/cleaning on move-out, noise, liability?, possible infestation, future/neighboring tenants may be allergic to animals Any thoughts/advice on this subject? Suggested fees? Thanks for your time. I am a somewhat new, (2) unit LL.
