Take a good look at your lease. Chances are it states that both of you are equaly responsible for the rent.

What could happen is that you leave for another place, he stops paying the rent, and next thing you know you get with with eviction proceedings for a place you don't live in anymore. Trust me, you don't want an eviction on your records.

Next time think long and hard before co-signing a binding contract.
