All of this story basically boils down to money. As a tenant, just like any home owner should do, you should set up an emergency fund. It should be readily available, should the need arise for you to have to move. Why should your current landlord be out a month of rent just because you feel you need the rent money to put down on the next place. That isn't really a concern of the landlord. You are utilizing his unit and occupying his property. I find this truly annoying. I have had tenants try to pull this before, claim that after I give them the formal 30 day notice to vacate, in agreement with the terms of the rental agreement they signed, they all of a sudden say, I can't pay you this last month, I need to save for my next place. Your next place is not your current landlord's problem.
