Yeah, Micah, I agree. This sounds like a vacation rental, not a residential rental. If so, this is not covered under the statute listed above (residential rental law), and the LL group mistook the unit for a regular residential unit. If it is vacation property, you have only rented it for the contract period, despite whatever the lady who showed you the units said. (Verbal contracts like that won't hold up in court.) You will need to be out at the end of your contract period since that is what you paid for. The vacation unit is already rented for the next period. No notice needs to be given to get you out of a vacation rental.

Hi, me again (the one who started this thread) ... why are the two of you saying "it sounds like a vacation rental?" ... the landlord told us we could stay as long as we wanted and that she would rather have long term tenants than vacation renters, we told her that we would like to have the place month to month, possibly until October, she said that if she had any other bookings she would move them into another place

also, in case there's any confusion, THERE WAS NO CONTRACT OR WRITTEN AGREEMENT OF ANY KIND between us ... she had a "For Rent" sign outside the property and told us it was for rent at $1,200 a month including utilities, there was never any discussion of us renting it as a vacation rental!

This is why you always get a lease... Why would they kick you out if they only had someone to replace you for a month? The whole thing doesn't make sense to me. If I were you I'd run, because the whole situtation stinks. Be thankful you aren't locked into a lease on a bad place...

we agree, the situation stinks, bad, and they can rent this place out per nite for $200+ and we are paying $1,200/month so they want us out!

basically the owners daughter rented the place to us out from under her vacation rental agent and created a huge mess for everyone and is now denying everything she told us of course..

also, we cant move that soon, that's why it's a problem for us!
