This is a state specific law in only a few places. Look under LL tenant laws and see what it says under obligations. My state has no such obligation.

An alternative - have her get a single garage door screen. They hang over the doorway from the outside like a curtain and are weighted to keep them down. They cost less than $20. They attach with velcro so you can take them with you when you leave. I bought one to put over my french doors in the fsamily room so the kids can go in and out easily. They work great.
