Let me first say that I have absolutely no idea about the law on this one but.........

This sounds so stupid to me. Ants come around when there is food left out. They are easy to kill but they will keep coming back if food is left out. Tell the tenanat to wash his god damn dishes and stop bugging you (pun inteneded). I think the tenanat just wants out of the lease for other reasons and this is the best excuse that the clown could think of. If I have ants I don't wait around for anyone else to buy the $5 can of raid in order to fix the problem. What a dumb ass.

God, you are ignorant! It just so happens that my son has an ant problem in the apartment he and his wife just moved into a month ago. They are extremely clean people, the ants are coming in through the walls, windows, drains, vents, and cracks. They dont leave food out, keep their surfaces clean, and wash their dishes as soon as they use them. The reason I am researching this is because they walked into the room and seen ants crawling on their 2 week old baby! That is the straw that broke the camels back.... If you have never had to deal with ants, you cant even grasp the concept of what it is like to live with them. They are almost impossible to get rid of completely and that is if you live in a single family house. When you live in an apartment building you have no control over what your messy, sloppy neighbors are doing and how clean they keep their house. So if their is a legitimate ant problem, let those people move if they want to!

What a dumb ass you are for even staying such a stupid inconsiderate thing. Maybe if you knew what it was like to be a tenant in that situation you wouldn’t be such a tight ass about it. Most of us are good paying tenants that keep things clean and it’s shitty landlords like your dumb ass that ruin things. I am here trying to get advice on a serious problem not because I’m a dirty or unclean person but because I have a shitty landlord who left a huge crack in the home I am renting and it is also in my kitchen so it’s a hole in the back of my house that leads ants and whatever else in. I am trying to find everyway to get out of this situation. You landlords are greedy bastards who have the littlest amount of respect. Kitchen is so gross I can’t even put dishes in my cabinets I just refuse to do it. Landlords can’t even make things right even when they’re at fault , anyway to take somebody’s deposit right? And that home defense shit does not work strongly like it’s advertised just FYI especially depending on the severity of the issue.
