That just doesn't sound right.
The police should have made a report,doesn't matter if it wasn't a break in.
Sounds like you got a couple of slackers that day!
It is truly absurd.ANd so wrong!!

I would call them again,ask for a supervisor and insist on making a report!That is your right.
Theft is theft,knowing them or not has nothing to do witht it.
His reasoning on the law just doesn't sound correct to me.
You need a report for your insurance as well.
I had something stolen from a unit and they made a report-no problem.They knew it was needed for ins claim,etc.
Call again,insist on a report today!

My tenants stole my washer and dryer, both the police and the prosecutor said they could do nothing about it, it is a civil case. I have no legal recourse to stop further theft while trying to evict tenants?
