As others dais be sure to have a lock clause in your lease. Then change the locks back and charge the tenant or evict.

I explain to tenants that we need access in case of emergency that we will not rob them, but if the lock is changed and we have to break in a new pre-hung front door will cost them $1,500 minimum.

That said, when I rented a place as a 2nd home for awhile the first thing I did was change the locks.
