It's not about setting boundaries. It is about what it takes to keep a customer happy, and still make a profit. A good customer is worth a lot. It really depends on what your objective is. If you have taken in a customer that cannot afford a microwave, it may have been a mistake to begin with.
When you open up a checking account at a bank, you get a free toaster...

You still haven't stated where the line should be drawn. Perhaps you think a business should just give a customer anything they ask for simply to keep the customer happy. That doesn't make any sense.
