Who is paying the utility bills to run the A/C ?

Do you have Renters Insurance in case your place gets burglarized?

Be energy wise. Consider common sense too.

Yes I pay the A/C bill. The issues is I leave the Windows open a few inches to let fresh air in. He doesn't like that.

Is the A/C yours? Did you buy it? If you are running the A/C while the windows are open, even a couple of inches, you are making that machine work harder for no reason. It's a gross misuse of the item. You can't have it both ways:A/C and fresh air. Pick one. When you want fresh air, turn off your A/C. Once you have aired out your apartments, close the windows and and put the A/C back on. My former tenants did the same thing. When they used up all the cooling agent within a month, after it being freshly charged, they needed to pay for it out of their own pockets. When their cntral A/C started having trouble, the HVAC tech determined it was from their misuse, the tenants were ordered by a judge that they were responsible for the cost of the repair which amounted to about $700.00.

"When they used up all the cooling agent within a month, after it being freshly charged" Freon is not used up, it disappears when there is a leak. Your HVAC tech determined it was from their misuse? Really? The A/C unit would stop running if the Freon was low due to a leak by the low pressure switch. Same with running too long, the high pressure switch would shut it off. It seems improvable that a judge would award $700.00 repair bill on an old A/C unit to start with! How would one prove misuse if all one did was run the A/C unit?
