Yes Daniel, it may or may not be "normal for appraisal companies to take photos of the property in every aspect they deem necessary to do their job". This has not been established just because you think so.

It is clearly an invasion of privacy to have some appraiser take photos of everything you own. Right of entry does not include taking pictures because you say so. My LPA lease says I may enter and appraisers may enter, but no where does it say it is ok to take pictures. There is enough invasion of privacy without you advocating even more of it. IMO they can appraise the house WITHOUT taking pictures.

Agreed. Even if the lease is silent on this matter, there would be no benefit to a landlord for pushing it. If you have good tenants, all this will do is piss them off.

ok then lets take your point of view:

You enter for inspection and see that the tenant is running a pot growing business or other item that is in violation of the lease.

now you go to process the eviction, where is your proof?

is it the LL claim, no; it is the evidence. And evidence is photos or witnesses.

The fact of the matter. When a LL has the right of entry, this means they are permitted access, without limitations of privacy rules. And if a tenant refuses, then they are PITA's and violating a LL rights.

The LL is conducting business by having an appraisal. it is not the place of a tenant to refuse this reasonable request.

    In California Under Civil Code 1954 the landlord may enter your unit without your permission ONLY:
    (1) in an emergency, like a fire or broken pipe, or
    (2) upon reasonable advance notice, and then ONLY:
    (A) to inspect, repair, or show the apartment,
    (B) during normal business hours [presumably Mon.-Fri. 8AM-6PM]

    Nowhere does it say they're allowed to take pictures. So, if you took pictures of them growing pot, it won't be allowed as exidence since they were acquired illegally.
