Re: Service dog laws - Landlord Forum thread 333208

Re: Service dog laws by allyson on April 4, 2015 @18:27

Thank you to everyone.
I have spent all afternoon researching this and I to found a website(among all the other ones I found)that can be helpful with the basics I wanted to share. This page specifically addresses housing and does make mention to the 4 unit issue brought up by Catherine

servicedogcentral.org/central/node/460

There were many other links I found within this site.

Again thanks to all for constructive input!

Please be aware that it will be the FHA that applies to a tenant needing an assistance/companion animal in the rental unit. The FHA has a broader definition of what an assistance/companion animal can be and the conditions for a reasonable accommodation under the FHAA.

The ADA only covers a service animal in regards to public accommodations. It has a narrow definition of a service animal and the conditions for reasonable accommodations.
