Why don't you ask the tenant why he called the building inspector instead of addressing the "problem" with you since it is your property?

I'm curious to know why he did that. Perhaps he thought he had a valid reason (even though we both know it's BS).

If he were my tenant and did the same, I'd ask him why did it and see what his answer is. I'd then thank him for confirming that I made the right decision not to renew his lease and let him know that this is exaclty the kind of thing judges look for when landlords need to provide evidence that a tenant is a bad tenant.

Wish him the best and proceed with getting him out.

I did ask the tenant. Her reply was that I didn't give her a key to the back door, which is a lie. The inspector didn't fine anything. Therefore he didn't write any report. I'm giving her proper notice to check the back door lock and give the tenant another key. its funny that after I gave her 30 day notice to vacate she has issues with the back door.

"I'd then thank him for confirming that I made the right decision not to renew his lease"

And this would be a major case of emotions getting the better of a business owner and serves no purpose other than to inflame the situation. The tenant is already on the way out, and insulting comments, whether deserved or not, will not prove any points to the tenant.
