I'm sorry to hear that a member of my branch of service is behaving this way. I'd like to think that we were better than the other services but in actuality we probably have just as many jerky members as any other service. Sorry to hear you got one of them.

I rented to military people for 20 years. Some were very entitled. Some were fine. Did they sign a lease? They are seeing how far they can push you. How is the market there? If it is rentable, and you have second string people waiting, maybe you should call their bluff.

I have seen this before. Don't give them an inch or you will be a mile in no time, trust me.

I can't stress enough how much you have to regain control of the situation-you have to take the power back. Sounds like they signed a lease. Seems like the only way they could get out would be IF there were mice and IF you failed to treat a mouse problem, if one existed. This type is inevitably going to do one of two things: 1) test you and back down OR 2) be PITA the entire lease. Also, verify with the DSL company that there was service there before they arrived. Their inability to connect their service is not your problem. I used to take responsibility for everything my tenant whined about. I had my last tenant start whining when I told him to pre-pay the oil in the tank that was there when he moved in and he complained, but I stood my ground and he paid it. Just testing me. Trust me, if you have a good rental market, call their bluff. Just make sure you can re-rent it. Tell them you will charge them until you can get another renter--that is another option. If they are unhappy you will be unhappy.
Good luck. You sound nice like I was. They must have some kind of detector or something.
