What if the tenant not show up in the court (NJ)? - Landlord Forum thread 335346

What if the tenant not show up in the court (NJ)? by ownernj on May 23, 2015 @11:39

I have filed eviction for nonpayment of tent, and waiting for court day now. Already noticed the tenant about this filing.

My question is, what if the tenant would not show up on that day?

Can he request the court to delay, thus, to continue to stay without paying?

Probably. Check your NJ law --------------->

I watched 55 evictions on one morning in JP court. About 35 tenants were no-shows and the LLs were awarded judgements right then and there. The other 20 showed up and represented themselves. A few won their case.

Can the tenant have the chance to reschedule / delay the court day? then to extend staying
