As for you final question. Landlords are human too. We make mistakes. I am betting this landlord has not been doing this sort of rental for very long, and hence, has no experience like this.

It was a newbie mistake to to involved, am I are the landlord regrets it now.

Katie--you are correct, he has only been a landlord a few years. He was involved with one tenant when she was asking questions and when she demanded rent payments be changed based on his correspondence to her, he backed out and said he has nothing to do with it and was not changing the rent. That said, he has already lit the fuse of discontent. I think it is a ridiculous amount of money for people to destroy friendships over, but who knows what is going on here. I have offered to pay more, but it is not enough, it has become a very hostile place to live for such a silly reason. Thanks for your response, I really do appreciate it. I don't think this person wants a satisfactory resolution. So, I, for one, am considering better options as I have tried my best to resolve her desire to pay less. This is PRIME real estate and 800 or even 900 inc heat and hot water in a high end neighborhood is a really good deal. Having one person pay 1000 seems a bit high...we all rented the place with his figures and budgeted accordingly. Thanks.
