my suggestion would be to back up two steps. I would not have written to David - I actually have no idea what this even means ... did you write the guy a letter? that makes NO sense to me.

I would have told Emma basically nothing - that all people don't get along and to deal with it ... keep it down and try to talk to the guy.

YOU will be sorry you got into the middle of this one - especially since you appear to be taking her side "she seems very nice, quiet and decent" and yet someone else can hear exactly what she's talking about inside her unit and needed to bang on her wall. I guarantee she was not "quietly watching a movie so she could barely hear it" if someone pounded on the wall due to the noise.

STAY OUT OF IT.
