Locking out a resident of a residential hotel - Landlord Forum thread 338268

Locking out a resident of a residential hotel by Deborah Bretz (CA) on August 22, 2015 @07:17

I manage a small residential hotel in CA. If a person does not pay all of thier rent by the 30th of the month, you can legally lock that resident out of their room. In a residential hotel tenants are not called tenants, they are either resident or guest. They do have some of the same rights that tenants do and they do not. The beauty of this law is that I do not have to give a 3-day notice and then wait to file a court action. This saves time and money. The only draw back is what to do with the guest belongings. You do have to hold them for 30 days by law, but you can charge a reasonable storage fee. I usually charge $10 per day.

If you are the manager you should ask the manager.
