Tenant Excuse Landlord of Stealing Furniture by Gwendolyn (Connecticut) on August 24, 2015 @18:23

Hi; What Should I do?

Tenant call Police on Landlord. Told police that Landlord
and her had the same furniture. She had a new one and Landlord had an old one. She said the Landlord switch pieces
took her new ones and left old pieces with her.
When Police investigated they found out Landlord did not have a couch set nothing like her. Tenant claim to Police after she confronted the Landlord. The Landlord brought a new couch set. Landlord had to showed Police she had her furniture for 20 years through pictures. The police said told landlord she was cleared. So now what should I do?

You should ask the police why the tenant was not arrested for making a false report.

Get a copy of the police report. Make sure the entire incidence it document in the case file. Any part of it which is incomplete or wrong... Get it corrected. It isnt uncommon for police to fail to record the out ome if such things .. Do not wait or you may ve unable to get correction later. Ask why police even went as far as they did with NO evidence. Get all you documentation together niw while it is fresh

Then, decide if you want to sue tenant for abuse of process and/or filing a false report.

Get this nutcase out of your rental! That's what you should do now. (But don't even let the thought cross your mind that she might be demented or have mental problems, or you'll be obliged to keep her forever due to your perception of her "disability", per earlier advice on this forum...)
