You may respectfully decline joining the Section 8 program. Do not as some have stated, be rude or condescending or hanging up on the housing department person. Remember they work closely with code enforcement and others agencies such as any local fair housing investigation groups. Be polite and decline if you desire to do so.

Your tenant will have to decide to move to a place that accepts the housing choice voucher program (section 8).
