unauthorized person - Landlord Forum thread 339605

unauthorized person by Anonymous on October 7, 2015 @19:14

I have a person who moved into a house I own and has, according to the police, been dealing drugs out of the house. They arrest purchasers but they never say where they got the drugs, so they can't arrest her! Does this qualify as a nuisance? Lots of car and bicycles arrive for short periods of time. I had to find out her name from law enforcement. When we learned she was living there, we went with the police to have her arrested for trespassing but she wasn't there. One of her "customers" showed up and later informed her that the PD was looking for her. She contacted them and said that she had been living there for a few months, which was not true. Never a lease, never asked for rent, don't want her there. We served her with a twenty day notice in July, but since she was supposed to go to jail for another reason we did not pursue eviction. Guess what! She is on house arrest! Seems if she was in actual jail, she would be out all ready. Is there a different procedure for getting her out than the regular eviction process? We are outside the city limits of Seattle.

Find out the person's probation officer. Tell this person that their charge is illegally squatting in your property that they broke into or otherwise illegally entered. Let him know that an eviction is underway. That should be enough to shake things up.

Why would you not want to use the regular eviction process?

The eviction process in my area is quick, and costs less than $100.00.

You do have the option of going down to the local police department and asking their advice. Just tell them you want this unwanted subject off the property, she is a squatter, and causing unwelcome traffic to her since she cannot curtail her dealing habits.
